As a Senior Research Editor, you will increase the quality, volume, reach, and impact of our research.
You'll work alongside our Director of Policy and Research to oversee our entire publication pipeline, shepherding research from initial drafts to polished outputs that meet the highest standards of quality and are designed to inform the right stakeholders. Much of the work will include hands-on editing and improvement of pieces, with a focus on content as well as form. For candidates with strong research backgrounds, the role offers additional opportunities to provide strategic direction on research priorities.
Note that for promising candidates who are not yet ready to take on the full set of responsibilities, we may also consider offering a Research Editor role.

Research Fellows are experienced researchers who play a central role in GovAI’s research agenda. They conduct high-quality research with direct relevance to governance and policy, engage with policymakers and other experts, and contribute to our vibrant intellectual community.

The Research Scholar role is a one-year visiting position. It is designed to support the career development of AI governance researchers and practitioners, while offering an opportunity to do impactful work.
As a Research Scholar, you will have freedom to pursue many different projects. This could include conducting policy research, social science research, or technical research; advising policymakers; or starting new applied projects.
Over the course of the year, you will deepen your understanding of the field, connect with a network of experts, and build your skills and professional profile within an institutional home that offers both flexibility and support.

Summer and Winter Fellowships provide an opportunity for early-career individuals or established professionals new to the field of AI governance to spend three months working on an AI governance research project, deepening their knowledge of the field, and forging connections with other researchers and practitioners. We are looking for candidates who are strongly considering using their careers to study or shape the lasting implications of AI.

Research Assistants help members of the GovAI research community with their ongoing research projects. These roles provide an opportunity to contribute to an AI governance research project, learn about the field, and make connections with researchers and practitioners.
We are looking for Research Assistants from a range of research backgrounds and experience levels. These Research Assistant roles can take the form of a wide range of tasks and research areas, depending on the project and skillset of the applicant. Positions may be part-time or full-time contractor roles, and we are looking for research assistants on a rolling basis.
